Hoorah for all of the wonderful members of the clean-up crew for all of their hard work!!! The team of 12 pulled out almost 150 lbs of trash and recyclables from our Napa River. So proud of the hard work of everyone! As always, a BIG thank you to all of our supporters: The City of Napa, the County of Napa, Black Stallion Winery and, of course, our beloved Rick Enos and Compadres Rio Grille!
A wonderful river clean-up day event took place out of the Riverside Launch on Saturday, July 16, 2016. Nearly 23 people (locals and out-of-towners...some as far away as Boston!) joined forces to extract 345 lbs of trash (& recyclables) out of the river! We pulled out some amazing "stuff" including: a motorcycle rim, pink sleeping bag, skateboard in a basket, small bike, sports balls, a Kohl shopping cart and much, much more! Kelly brought his 14' fishing boat again to help by off loading debris from kayakers and returning it all to the launch site. We call him...Saint Kelly! We celebrated together on the back porch of Compadres Rio Grille...THE BEST! Thanks to all for being a part of the solution! See you next time!!!
You know it's summer when Kayak NV hits the water with Paul Cooke and the Blue Oak Adventure Camp!!! Year #8 proved to be possibly the best of all with a group of 15 campers and staff "adventuring" out of Kennedy Park. South on the first day to visit the Napa Pipe site where the osprey have their annual nest and bring their babies into the world. Then into Horseshoe Slough where we saw a spectacular bald eagle!!! Day #2 was not a disappointment, as we ventured north to the small slough across from the Riverside Launch. Lots of bird along the way and we even spotted a porpoise! Thanks for a wonderful two days on the water! We look forward to next year!!!
We had a wonderful group of 15 that hit the river for a day of cleaning and fun! We were so lucky to have Kelly and his friend, Dan, join us along with Kelly's 14' fishing boat. This was a BIG help to our crew as they were able to off-load what they had collected, so they would not have to paddle back with that extra weight. Speaking of weight...we collected 188 lbs of trash and 39 lbs of recyclables. It was awesome! As always, we celebrated our hard work with a great meal at Compadres Rio Grille. A perfect day!!! Thanks to ALL!!!
An amazing group of 11 rolled up their sleeves to celebrate Earth Day 2016 by pulling our 289 lbs of trash & recyclables from our beloved Napa River. Congrats to all Napans who came out and helped to make Napa clean...both on land and on water!
We had a small crew to finish out our clean-up season. Inspite of our small numbers, we managed to pull out 275 lbs of trash and recyclables from the river. Our grand total for the 2015 season is 3,082 lbs. Great job, everyone! See you next year!
We had a very successful second-to-last clean-up day of 2015. This group of 13 collected 465 lbs of trash and recyclables! Well done! A special shoutout to our loyal veterans...Wiley, Veronica, Lynn and Fred (pictured below) as they launched at the Trancas Launch and worked their way south. Kudos to all! We could not do it without you!
Bicycle frame, suitcase & hot sauce...OH MY!!! We are always surprised at what we pull out of the river! "Paddles Up" to our crew for collecting 370 lbs of trash & recyclables! We especially welcome our four first-timers and once again, tip our hat to our returning local loyals! Until September 6th!!!
Note: 6 clean-up crew members not pictured.
It wouldn't be summer if Kayak NV wasn't teamed up with the Blue Oak Camp. Two mornings of paddling: one day going north and one day going south. Lots of beauty to see all along the river...even a bald eagle! Well done everyone!
